Other things

"Friends" does NOT translate to "people I'm stalking". It means "friends".
If you're really interested in knowing who I'm watching, I'd suggest you get a life.
Please feel free to give me a sharp poke in the ribs in the form of a note if I forgot you. I like getting notes. :3

I'm lonely, and like comments almost as much as I like favs. Even something simple like "this is cute" makes me feel special.

But spam is still annoying. If you're here to spam me, please just go away. Trust me, niether you nor anyone you know will get in a car wreck, your insignificant other will not break up with you, nor will anything else of that nature occur just because you didn't send some chain message on to someone else. (However, they might break up with you if you keep pissing them off with your spam.)

Hi there, visitor, and welcome to my page!

Make sure to sign the "visitors" section (like you have a choice) and while you're at it, how about a vote in that poll down there? I suppose I can't really ask for more, but a few comments would be nice :)

Thanks for stopping by!

new laptop

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 7, 2009, 10:52 PM
  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: teh raido
  • Eating: I'm all out of cheesy puffs! D8
I've been in need of a new one for quite a while.
The one I have now is 4 years old, and quite frankly, a clunker.
First, the battery simply does not work. It must be plugged in at all times to keep it turned on. (there used to be a time when I could press the power button and then go to plug it in, but no more.)
The keyboard is unrelaiable, I often have to press keys a second time to make them work. (I should uit fixing all the keyboar's missed lettes, just to rove it) This is possibly due to having had several of the keys clawed off on multipule ocations. (the `/~ key is the only one that never stays on properly, thankfully.)
It takes at least 5 minutes to turn on, and sometimes a good 30 seconds just to open the internet (and not often because of a poor connection) not to mention that I have to turn WLAN off temporarily after arriving home from my tutor's.
Most obvious are the several colored vertical lines that remain on the screen. With the new yellow one that appeared today, there are 7 in total. When the scree is all black, can see that ther are 4 yelow ones, 2 pink ones, and 1 red one WAAY on the left where you can't realy see it xcept in certain situtions, like Yotube full-sceened.
There was also that time my desktop background just disapeared... that was just odd.
Besides al that, this thing is big, and heavy. that combined with the lack of battey usage kind of efeats the purpse of owning alaptop compuer.

I thought that, with all these problems, Iwouldn't haveany attachment to this old clunker. That I'd be able to happily defenicize it and immediately start running around the house carrying the new one in my panties for some unknown reason. (maybe in my excitement I took off my pants.)

Bt, I thought a bit last night. I thought that, aside from all these petty issues, this 4-year-old clunker has been good to me. Everything on it aside from the battery still function to some extent, and besides, my brother had an issue with one of his old laptops that at a certain point, he couldn't even get it to turn on, the battery was so bad.
Also...i's not a Vista. |3 I think that should be enough of an arguement for it. [link] [link]
On a related note, thismachine has nevergiven methe blue screenof death.
I've only had to take it to get repaired once, and I can't remember what that was for. Maybe that the internet wasn't working, or something...
I also think it deserves some praise just for keeping all these bizarre old-as-dirt files and my messed-up system of organizing them... I've still got a folder labeled "My Doc OLD" from my previous laptop! (oh man, it's gonna take FOREVER to sort through all my old files...)
So, all in all, it's kind of impressive that this laptop is still in such good condition after four years...
Oh man...I wrote my Fahrenhiet 451 summer reading report for my Freshman year on this machine... drew many of the pictures for that report on here, too...
I stayed up until 3 in the morning writing, on this machine, downstairs on the sofa, the Write Your Own Myth assignment, before emailing Mrs. Hamlet with my plea and asking for an extention...then I printed out the 6 pages of way-too-detailed-for-a-myth writing, brought it to school, was given the extention I begged for, left my unfinshed myth/story on a counter at home... Mom took it and showed it to all her friends without telling me until afterwards... I don't like when people read my writing...
|D good times, good times...

So basically, I'm a an overly sentimental person that can develop an attachment to ANYTHING, and I'm feeling kind of bad about replacing my old clunker of a computer.

I already came up with a few things I could do pretty easily with the comp and a digital camera that should help me sort through whatever it is I'm feeling, then I'll be fully ready to bust out the shiny, new, RED, Dell under-4-pound beauty. ...After I sort through and transfer over all my files.
