I AM NOT A CHIHUAHUA

Artist's Oh-My-God long comments

So. This is Quickit, my "baby" kougra. (I put "baby" in quotes because she only looks like that because she was zapped by Boochi, and doens't act like a baby anything at all.) Doesn't look much like a kougra, does she? *nods* Looks more like a chihuahua.
You even agree, don't you?
Quickit: *annoyed*
^^; eheheheh... Yeah.

If you can't read what I said at the top, it says "I am about to attempt to do something that I have never done successfully before. Wish me luck." When I said that I meant that I've never drawn Quickit well enough that I would not be terribly embarrassed to show anybody before.
Then in the bottom right corner of the picture you see me, holding my *new* sketchbook, and staring lovingly/proudly at my new picture. I even managed to fix her tail texture! (the first time it looked like Sonic the Hedgehog or Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo) I find it very surprising that I could draw her so well this time when the first time turned into such a disaster. That's probably part of why I like this picture so much, because it's hugely (I know that's probably not a word or a good fake word to use in this situation, shut up vocabulary is one of my weaknesses.) better than the last one of her.

When I was drawing this, I almost hade her ears almost twice as big as they are in here.
That's when it occured to me that she looks like a chihuahua, and started playing the chihuahua song, just to entertain myself.
Then Nin came in and sang along in her face. Naturally, she was annoyed. When I was done with the picture, Quickit came in and peeked over my shoulder somehow (probably jumped up on the back of the chair, I was too busy adoring my new picture to notice.)
I can only assume that she was surprised by a picture of herself because there are no mirrors and very few reflective surfaces in my neohome that are at baby kougra/chihuahua eye level, and very few still pools of water on Mystery Island.

Long after finishing this picture I realized that, if I was going to try to pass off that her right paws are bigger than her left paws because they're closer, I should have had her facing to the left rather than the right. But by then it was far too late for me to care.

(Oh boy, I get to recite the story behind Quickit's name again! */sarcasm*)
Quickit's "official" name is "Solembum_Girl", entirely by a mistake of my own. Anybody who has read both Eragon and Eldest (the first two parts of the Inheritance series by Christophen Paolini) already probably know what my mistake was without me having to tell them. (and are also probably just as excited an at the same time irritated than I am, if not more so, that the third and final part of the series is coming out this fall, after school starts!)
For those of you that haven't read both of those two fantastic books, allow me to explain. In the first book, Eragon, the character Solembum the werecat is introduced. Inspired by both the book and the character Solembum himself, (also I have a lot of trouble coming up with creative names.) I foolishly wanted to name my kougra after him. (I've realized now that naming a pet after a popular character is not a good idea.) But I didn't want her to be a male, nor did I want to deal with confusion from others, plus I knew the name "Solembum" would already have been taken ages ago by some other neopet.
Even when I was making the name official, it occured to me that "what if there's a female werecat in the next book?" but I decided that there was a very small chance of this (ha, ha.) and that I didn't want to wait until the next book came out, and I'd had time to read it before creating my new Neopets account, and I knew I wanted my kougra to be the oldest of my pets this time. (the story behind why I needed a "new" Neopets account is long, boring, confusing, and bound to get me a few rude comments from other Neopians who don't agree with my methods.)
Ironically, (yet not very unexpected) there actually was a female werecat in Eldest. Whoops.
She claimed that *!! goes and gets the book to try to find the exact quote* ..... (Oh screw it, I'm going to read the whole series again by the end of this year anyway.) she had been called by many names before, and one of them was Quickpaw. "Hey, that's kind of cool." I thought. Quickit agreed, she liked that name too. it took a while, but both of us, along with her two sisters, eventually did get used to calling her "Quickpaw"
Then one morning at breakfast, we were all eating our free Islandberry crunch cereal, when Boochi attakced! (for those of you that don't know Neopets, Boochi is a villian who uses his ray gun to turn other neopets into babies.) Oddly enough, he actually hit someone. (although he was probably aiming for someone else) At the time, I was majorly ticked that he had to go and shoot the most adult of my pets, rather than Maria, the most childlike. Quickit just wanted to kill him, and Nin laughed so hard cereal came out her nose. (I've got a screenshot to prove it!)
In the Warriors series, (a series about cats that live in a forest) the kittens' names all use the suffix "-kit", (Bramblekit, Cloudkit, etc.) and the names of the cats that are closer to adulthood all end in "-paw". (Greypaw, Cinderpaw, Sandpaw, etc.) Since Quickit had previously been about the size of a tiger-like creature (that's what kougras are, right?) that was close to, but definetely not quite at adulthood, and her name also ended in "-paw", I thought it'd be clever to do like the Warriors cats and change her name to a "-kit" ending when she was forced into more of a kitten/cub form.
She wasn't too keen on it at first, but eventually the name stuck.
Also, she didn't seem to mind being a baby as much when she was reminded that the freakishly huge fangs I gave her (cos I'm a idiot, and she was named after a werecat) became significantly smaller, and that she was now a "painted" pet. Lucky her, I'm so stingy that I've never painted any of my pets before.

Quickit (c) me
kougra (c) Neopets
Eragon, Eldest, the Inheritance series, and all related characters (c) Christopher Paolini or whoever owns him. (XD I'm just kiddin'!)
Sonic, Ryoko (c) their respective owners
